Bren Road

Utilizing a form vocabulary inspired by river islands and backwaters, this highly programmed courtyard/woonerf, streetscape, and pool deck design aimed to weave together a community located on a transit oriented development site. A large berm was strategically placed in the center of the main courtyard to act as a connection point for children and adults, and to help with the scale of the adjacent 13 and 6 story residential buildings. A play forest, firepits, pool, seating areas and open lawn spaces are revealed along a path network that acts like the experience of a revealed moment along a river bend.
