In 2019, the Indigenous Art Commission and the Walker Art Center held a call for artists to create a site-specific installation for the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden. Urban Ecosystems was selected to collaborate with the chosen Artist, Angela Two Stars and see the project through implementation. The installation features a series of concentric rings that symbolize the levels of learning a language. In particular, the Dakotah language, which is currently in danger of disappearing. Dakotah words, phrases, and teachings are inscribed throughout the piece. The centerpiece, a slow moving water feature, represents a drop in water that forms ripples, the concentric benches. This symbolizes the ripples we make in our community through learning, action, and connection.
