Elena Pauling
Landscape Designer
Elena believes great landscape design leaves a place better than it was found by connecting people, nature, and the built environment. Growing up in Cuneo, Italy, between the Alps and the Mediterranean coast, she developed a lifelong appreciation for the relationship between landscape, culture, and ecology.
She earned a Bachelor's Degree in Architecture from Politecnico di Torino before completing a Master's Degree in Landscape Architecture at the University of Genoa. After beginning her career in Italy, she moved to New York City, where she transitioned to landscape architecture and contributed to the design of schoolyards, parks, athletic fields, plazas, and public open spaces for public agencies and institutional clients.
Throughout her career, Elena has contributed to projects ranging from neighborhood parks and civic spaces to district-scale public realm and infrastructure projects across the United States and the Middle East. Her experience spans multiple phases of design, from concept development through construction documentation, and she enjoys working collaboratively to create landscapes that respond thoughtfully to their environmental, cultural, and social context.
Outside of work, Elena enjoys running, cycling, sailing, and exploring new places and cultures. She believes every experience broadens her perspective as both a designer and a person, and strives to live by two simple principles: be humble and honest, and always choose love over fear.
